FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

On Monday, February 4th - DEBORAH WOOD PUBLICITY released the latest single from GREG HANNA titled BETTER DAY COMIN'.  Since that time we have had a lot of great support coming from those who understand the lyric and the meaning of the song - saying the song was: incredible - soulful - the best Hanna has sounded and then we have had: too preachy, lyrics too whiny, too gospel sounding and the message of the song projected a negative to people in down times - not giving them a reason other then to feel sorry for themselves.  These comments couldn't be further from the truth.  BETTER DAY COMIN' - is an up lifting positive Women's anthem!  This song is about a woman's good faith in herself and her belief that she can have a "better day".  So after giving much thought to this, I approached Greg Hanna and Kim Tribble on going to radio with where the inspiration came from for writing this song.  That true inspiration came from my true-life experience.  I am that woman!

Statistics show that half of Canadian women (51%) have experienced at least one incident of physical or sexual violence since that age of 16.  On February 18th, 2006 I became one of those statistics.  While in the shelter I learned that women from all walks of life are susceptible to domestic abuse.

I left the shelter to start my new life on April 26th, 2006 with tools and a whole different outlook on life.  Shortly after leaving the shelter I tuned into a radio station from Toronto and listened that day to women's stories of abuse and survival and knew at that time I had to become involved in someway with this organization.  Shortly after that time I called my good friend Kim Tribble to discuss a release on a song that he had written with David Lee Murphy for me.  As friends to they catch up on all the news.  Feeling safe and trusting Kim I shared my story and the radiothon information with him and at that time he suggested writing a song to present to the Canadian Women's Foundation to be used at the time of the radiothon.

Two days after the radiothon that I participated in Kim called me with the song.  I was blown away - that was in early 2007.  Christmas 2007 Greg Hanna called me with a new song titled BETTER DAY COMIN' and Kim suggested we release this song.  This song represented hope not only to me but women that had been involved with the domestic abuse issue - they all agreed this was a song of hope!

Since leaving the shelter in 2006 I have become a very loud vocal voice in my hometown against domestic abuse and participate when time allows to fight the cause.  One term I have become very familiar with is "fight or flight" - I chose to fight and become a survivor!

Now after hearing the true meaning of the song I ask you to give it a listen knowing where this song has come from.  Domestic Abuse are words that still in 2008 make people uncomfortable - I realize that - but its a very real situation that happens every day in Canada.

We have recently submitted the song to The Canadian Women's Foundation to be considered for this years SHELTER FROM THE STORM Radiothon and will keep you informed on the progress.

A great song is an emotional journey that effects many people on many different levels.  We appreciate those who have been touched by BETTER DAY COMIN' in a positive way, and we thank you for your support.
